White Boards

I can not begin to explain the power of a white board!!!

I use white boards for every thing... I think. I really like to use them to track my students high frequency words and exemplar words.

** If you haven't gone to my Teachers Pay Teachers page... go so you can download your free high frequency word and exemplar word trackers. These help you when you want to see if your students know key words that they can use to read and write word with those parts.**

Here is a script for how I use a white board to drill those high frequency words and exemplar words.

ON WHITEBOARDS ONLY:

Key:

Teacher (T) Student/s (S)

"Something you say is in quotes"

Something italics is a teacher note

T- ”Write the word ____ (a).” This will be based off of your data for what word they know.

S- Write the word ‘____’.

T- “I noticed you spelled the word____!”

“Now write the word ____ (on).” Again this will based off of your data for what word they know.

S- Write the word ‘____’.

T- “I noticed you spelled the word____!”

If you use my trackers and a white board you can say 'good bye' to time wasted on giving and grading and grade booking spelling tests. In addition, you can then start to use these high frequency words and exemplar words as anchor words as students begin to read and write new words- using parts of words not just word families! This is so fast and transferable to student growth!

Happy Teaching!

P.S. All white board marker eraser tricks are great.
